About the festival, our why.

WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT

The Chesapeake Bay Balloon Festival is August 25th-27th, 2023 at Triple Creek Winery.

In its 7th year, the festival was developed as an agritourism program by Alex and Terri Spies, to bring awareness to their small family farm and winery, Triple Creek Vineyards in Cordova, MD.

The festival also helps launch American Farm Foundation, whose mission is to refocus attention on educating Americans about agriculture, innovating solutions to improve the economics for small family farmers to keep feeding America, and connecting American consumers with small family farmers.

With this hand in hand approach, the Chesapeake Bay Balloon festival and American Farm Foundation seek to promote those businesses and farms who are of like mind, and doing so in an Exposition styled format. This way, the public can become engaged, educated and exposed to producers they might not other wise meet in their daily activities.

About the Chesapeake Bay Balloon Festival

Hot Air Balloons

The featured attraction is more than twenty art-inspired hot air balloons. Tethered rides are an inexpensive way to experience ballooning, 50′ in the air for 3-5 minutes ($20 adults, $10 kids). Balloon fly-aways are beautifully stunning to watch as balloon drift over the countryside. Guests can ride along for $350 on a 45 minute to an hour ride (Reservations here) The evening “balloon glow” is the ultimate photo opportunity with a backdrop of balloons lit up against the dark night time sky. Saturday and Sunday morning at 6 AM the balloons fly away, often breaking through the mist lying over the field.

Note that weather has major impact on hot air balloon activities. The slightest breeze and balloons may not be able to fly, but that’s why we have so many other great things going on!

In addition to the balloon festival, the Triple Creek All American Pro Rodeo (PRCA) and Ocean City Classic PBR Championship Bull Riding have supported numerous causes over the years including volunteer fire companies, cancer research and patients, and the Special Olympics.

New for 2023, the events will be providing support for a new non-profit, American Farm Foundation, run by family farmers in MD. The foundation’s mission is to educate the public about agriculture, connect shoppers with local food, and create meaningful experiences with our farms. While the events were launched years ago, we’re just getting started with this foundation. We look forward to sharing our progress toward this mission with you as we evolve together.

Chesapeake Bay Balloon Festival is August 25th, 26th and 27th, 2023!

All ballooning activities including static display, tethered rides and balloon flights are weather-dependent.  The decision to inflate hot air balloons is made just prior to the scheduled ballooning activity.  Please note that due to the popularity of our festival, our admissions booths will close when we reach maximum capacity. This is a decision out of our control and made by local law enforcement. This is an advanced ticket sale event and no tickets will be sold at the gate.
Tickets are non-refundable.
